About QiGong
QiGong means energy training or work. It is a form of exercise that also includes Tai Chi, and is one
of the five pillars of Traditional Chinese Medicine, along with acupuncture, herbal medicine,
massage (Tui Na), and diet.
There are many styles of QiGong. Each belongs to one of four major categories: medical, martial,
scholar, or religious. QiGong styles are also classified as either internal (“soft”) or external (“hard”).
These are internal, or soft, medical QiGong forms that we teach:

About Therapeutic QiGong
Therapeutic QiGong is one of many kinds of medical QiGong.
It was originally developed as Lian Gong Shi Ba Fa during the 1960s and 1970s by Dr. Zhuang Yuan Ming, a trauma specialist at the Government Hospital in Shanghai. The English translation of the Chinese name is 18 training exercise forms.
By combining his proficiency in modern medicine and scientific principles with ancient Chinese martial arts, breathing techniques, and Taoist movement practices, Dr. Zhuang created a system of simple, extensive exercises to improve health and quality of life.
Therapeutic QiGong (Lian Gong Shi Ba Fa) is made up of two sets of 18 slow, deliberate, exercises that increase slowly and gradually to target muscle groups and isolated joints. Because these exercises coordinate with breathing, the internal organs get constant stimulation and the entire body feels the positive effects of increased oxygen flow.
